How we make books part of our day, every day

Today you’ll find me over at Chilhood101, writing about our adventures in reading. I’m honored to be guest posting for Christie, especially about a topic so close to my heart – books and fostering a love of reading in children. I hope you will pop over and take a look. While you’re there, take a look around. Childhood101 is an amazing resource for parents and caregivers. You’ll find information on parenting, arts and crafts, setting up play and learning spaces, and so much more.

I hope you enjoy my post on our Adventures in Reading.

  1. I love that you’re featuring the importance of reading to children everyday. I believe it is one of the most important gifts you can give a child. We have been reading to our 17 month old since she was a tiny baby and her appreciation of books and her ability to talk astounds me. I’ll be back to read the series, thank you.

  2. Here in Ireland a lot of the time childens names are of benefit when it comes to taking an interest in reading. Ireland’s wealth of mythology not only for the children but for the parents is a great source of names. & when a parent tells their child that there is a story about their name then the child becomes fascinated.
Usually they want to hear the story over & over & when it becomes a bit tiresome then the child asks to learn to read it. I myself have a name from just such a legend & I remember the journey.

  3. What a wonderful post Ness!!! I just left a comment over at Childhood101. I am hopping to write a post in the next couple days on how we took one of our recent favorite books outside to recreate it in chalk….I will be excited to mention your post in it! Hope you are well!!!
