This is a special post to let all of my lovely Queensland readers know about the wonderful book promotion currently being run by The Sunday Mail and The Courier Mail. There are a total of 8 gorgeous mini books to collect, from some of Australia and New Zealand’s most beloved children’s authors and illustrators, between February 3 and February 10.
Here’s how it works. I mentioned yesterday on Facebook that simply by purchasing a copy of The Sunday Mail you would receive a FREE copy of the fabulous children’s classic “Animalia” by Graeme Base and a book bag to store your mini book collection. The remaining books can be purchased for a tiny $2 each together with the token you will receive when you purchase your copy of The Courier Mail all this week. The tokens for the remaining seven books are also available with The Gold Coast Bulletin, The Townsville Bulletin and The Cairns Post.
The eight fabulous mini books in the collection are:
February 3: Animalia, written and illustrated by Graeme Base
February 4: Uno’s Garden, written and illustrated by Graeme Base
February 5: Koala Lou, written by Mem Fox and illustrated by Pamela Lofts
February 6: Hunwick’s Egg, written by Mem Fox and illustrated by Pamela Lofts
February 7: There’s a Hippopotamus Eating Cake on Our Roof, written by Hazel Edwards and illustrated by Deborah Niland
February 8: Stickybeak, written by Hazel Edwards and illustrated by Rosemary Wilson
February 9: Hairy Maclary’s Bone, written and illustrated by Lynley Dodd
February 10: Hairy Maclary From Donaldson’s Dairy, written and illustrated by Lynley Dodd
How brilliant is that? What a fantastic way to expand your child’s picture book collection, or collect them to give away as gifts for birthdays throughout the year.
The Mini Book Collection is available for purchase while stocks last at participating newsagents and outlets when you present the token, which can be found on page 2 of newspaper each day. Further information can be found at The Courier-Mail website.

These are fantastic. We got them late last year, when the Herald-Sun was running the promotion. Enjoy.
